New MDA Architecture
EclipseUML 2008 is the final MDA architecture which allows mutidiagrams naviguation and metamodel tracability.
Omondo changed its architecture in order to save all UML information directly in the UML metamodel and not in the java tag as previously.
This was an important step for:
  • improving EclipseUML quality (many bugs were solved by changing this tag oriented approach)
  • providing a full MDA tool
EclipseUML 2008 is now a MDA tool for two kind of users:
  • JEE architects will model the application architecture and deploy Persistence, Service and Layers components.
  • Java developers will reuse this architecture, immediately getting 90% of the needed code and finish the application integration.
The new Omondo architecture will open new frontiers to modern and agile JEE development.
This new JEE Agile concept could easily be used by medium and large corporations.

The Old Omondo Architecture which was created in 2002, was not anymore optimized because:
  • Having the model information in the code because of team versioning problem was not needed anymore with the latest CVS, or SVN Tools.
  • Changing the user code organization/format was to intrusive
  • Mixing javadoc and tags was making confusion
  • Loosing model information when reformatting a project was impossible to control
